In the Haute-Savoie department, at the foot of Mont-Blanc and close to Switzerland and Italy, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is a mythical place with an international reputation. With legendary peaks such as Mont-Blanc, Aiguille Verte, Aiguille du Midi and Les Drus, the resort is the mountaineering capital of the world.

In 1741, two Englishmen, William Windham and Richard Pococke, explored the Chamonix valley and its glaciers. Their adventures, published in European literary gazettes, sparked a craze for Chamonix and Mont Blanc. From there, the resort flourished, with the massive arrival of mountaineers and explorers, the inauguration of the railroad, the appearance of luxury hotels, the development of cable cars, and so on. Then, in 1924, Chamonix became the host of the first Winter Olympics. Since then, the resort has constantly reinvented itself, becoming a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts from all horizons.

As well as being a prestigious international ski resort, Chamonix also boasts breathtaking architecture.
