Uzès - its region and its real estate market

Uzès - its region and its real estate market

In the Gard department, at the foot of the Cevennes mountains and in the heart of the Eure valley, the town of Uzès offers a sumptuous setting where history and nature combine harmoniously.

First duchy of France in 1632, the city occupied a prestigious position within the country. Emblematic of its prosperity, the Château d'Uzès, seat of the duchy, bears the marks of every era: an imposing feudal tower, medieval ramparts, an elegant Renaissance façade, etc. In the course of the 20th century, Uzès undertook the restoration of its town center, achieving the status of “Ville d'art et d'histoire” (City of Art and History) in 2008, attesting to the city's success in enhancing its historical heritage and privileged living environment.

Nicknamed “France's Tuscany”, the city of Uzès has retained a fascinating medieval appearance. Its imposing Duchy castle, which proudly watches over the town, its medieval streets, shady squares, fountains and famous Place aux Herbes with its arcades, give the city a timeless aura. The medieval garden, with its medicinal and aromatic plants used in the Middle Ages, and the neo-Romanesque Saint-Théodorit cathedral are also must-sees.

The surrounding countryside is one of Uzès' major assets, thanks in particular to the Vallée de l'Eure, an ideal place for peaceful family walks. As for the Gardon river, it's the perfect place for water sports and relaxation. Uzès is also home to a plethora of restaurants featuring delicious Mediterranean flavours, sure to delight gourmets. The Place aux Herbes market, considered to be the most beautiful in Occitanie, is a must-see for craftwork and regional delicacies such as honey, wine, truffles and olives.

The region and its real estate market

In Uzès, the historic center is particularly sought-after for its picturesque ambience, especially prestigious townhouses and luxury apartments. The residential neighborhoods on the edge of the city center are also highly sought-after, as they offer the possibility of more extensive outdoor spaces.

Around Uzès, the villages of Arpaillargues-et-Aureillac, Saint Quentin-la-Poterie, Montaren-et-Saint-Médiers, Saint Maximin, etc., are particularly appreciated for their tranquility and charm. Village houses, restored farmhouses, contemporary waterfront villas and elegant stone residences are the most sought-after types of real estate.
