Ajaccio - its region and its real estate market

Located in the southern part of the French island of Corsica, the town of Ajaccio stands out as the capital of the « Île de Beauté » (Isle of Beauty). Nestling in the heart of the gulf that bears its name, the former imperial city reveals the charms of its streets steeped in history and its typically Mediterranean lifestyle.

During the 15 ᵉ century, Ajaccio was refounded by the Genoese, who decided to rebuild the town, building, among other things, an imposing citadel. In 1769, the birth of Napoleon Bonaparte in the city marked the beginning of an impressive boom for the town. Under the Emperor's reign, it became the capital of Corsica in 1811. Over the years, Ajaccio underwent a metamorphosis, adding sumptuous buildings, new squares and middle-class residences. Today, Ajaccio continues to attract visitors from all over the world, who appreciate the fine sands of its sumptuous gulf, its island dolce vita and its imperial memory.

One of Ajaccio's many assets is its direct access to the sea, with the beaches of the Gulf of Ajaccio a veritable paradise for sunbathing, swimming and water sports. Don't miss the Sanguinaires Islands, a listed natural site accessible via the legendary road of the same name, which, with its many species of birds and wild beauty, will amaze nature lovers. Last but not least, Ajaccio's appeal would not be complete without mentioning its cuisine, with specialties that only Corsicans know the secret of, such as Ajaccienne fish soup, bilorbi fritters, octopus in sauce, bastelles and more.
