Bouc-Bel-Air: history and heritage
The village of Bouc-Bel-Air was given the name Albertas in 1767, in honor of the Marquis Jean-Baptiste d'Albertas, who became president of the new Parliament of Provence. After the French Revolution, the village partially recovered its name, becoming Bouc-Albertas. The commune reverted to its original name, Bouc-Bel-Air, in 1907. After the industrial revolution, city dwellers flocked here en masse for their summer vacations.
The village's charm has been preserved, and it continues to attract visitors in search of beauty and cultural activities. The Albertas gardens, private jewels designed in the French style during the 17th century, have been recognized for their historical value. They are listed as Historical Monuments and have been classified as Remarkable Gardens by the French Ministry of Culture.
A temple to black diamond gastronomy is located in the charming commune of Bouc-Bel-Air. The exceptional establishment “La Truffe dans tous ses états” is the only one in the region to sublimate and honor the truffle.
