HAVEN OF PEACE 30 MINUTES FROM GENEVA
LAC LEMAN SOTHEBY'S INTERNATIONAL REALTY offers you: There are real estate nuggets that leave you speechless. This XIIIth century residence located in a vast domain of nearly two hectares, beautifully wooded and maintained, nestled in our beautiful Chablais region between the lake and the mountains is classified as a French heritage site.
Come and discover this ancient fortress of the Middle Ages, only 30 minutes from the gates of Geneva. The history of the castle begins in the 1250s when the Cervens family built the fortress, which remained there for nearly two centuries. In 1473, Françoise de Cervens du Vernay inherited the castle and passed it on to her husband Guillaume d'Allinges; this is how the fortress fell into the hands of the most powerful and richest family of the Chablais. In 1590 the castle was burned down by Guillaume de Cluny d'Autun (leader of the Genevan troops). In the 19th century, LA ROCHETTE became a vast domain entrusted to farmers, and two other families followed throughout the 20th century.
In 1932, the ruins of La Rochette were registered as historical monuments to be protected.
It is an invitation to the spirit of bed and breakfast/gite/creation of a gastronomic restaurant to live convivial moments, carpe diem!
Property of about 590m2 of living space, the houses - two old mills at the foot of the ramparts - entirely restored are linked by a covered stone bridge over a lovely cascading stream, they were renovated by the owners in the 2000s.
