The Perche is a small region in Lower Normandy that was originally formed in 1114 by the joining of the county of Mortagne and the "seigneuries" of Nogent and Bellême. During the French Revolution, the region was broken up into four departments, the main parts being located in Orne and Eure-et-Loir. The Natural Regional Park of the Perche was created in 1998, thus restoring its original identity. Located only 150 km from Paris, this region is a favourite among Parisians in the search of tranquil country life with quick access to the French capital.
